Man's wisdom - foolishness

I have been looking back at and study the book of I Corinthians 1:18 and those surrounding verses. I am amazed to see how the city of Corinth is similar to our world today. This was a large city and a place of commerce and all that. I am sure that this place had a lot for its people during that time. We have to remember that this place is also known for its act of immorality. It was a place of people that are seeking knowledge which are reverence to their worshiping of  different gods.

In this verse 18: The message of the Cross of Jesus Christ is foolishness. And we see that it also talk about two kinds of people in this verse the saved and the unsaved. To the perished ones it is foolishness but to those that are being saved- it is the power of God. In this city there were people that made up their teachings beside what the Bible is telling us regarding Christ and his redemptive work. So I believe that the problem has caused or may be contribute to the Church division- In verse 12, it says that they were saying that they belong to Paul, Apolos, Peter or even Christ but then the following verse Paul asked them, Has Christ been divided? and Was Paul crucified for you? Things kicks in the church during that time.

Paul was presenting this that he will being back their hearts to the unity in Christ- oneness in the body of Christ which they divided up. He was inviting back their hearts to use their wisdom in seeing and filtering things that are coming into the church.Paul was inviting them back to see the power of God that changed their lives in the first place that they are called saved.  He was mentioned the "cleverness of speech" this was what he was trying to avoid and that many has doubted message of the cross,

Power of God- Christ Jesus.
